SENIOR AMATEUR RESERVE DIVISION FULHAM UNITED..........................3 KENSINGTON ATHLETIC............0

YOUR favourite local paper couldn't see Danny Paxton's face when he told us he was man-of-the match.

It's hard to tell on the end of a phone whether someone's tongue is firmly in their cheek - but in all fairness, the Fulham United stalwart reckoned the rest of his team-mates gave him the award as well.

Paxton hit a 35-yard screamer from a free-kick on Sunday, and this was after brother Larry had netted deep into the second-half.

Lawrence Baache grabbed the third, but Danny Paxton admitted his team 'should have scored 20' against the league's rock-bottom team.

He said: "The truth is we were having a bit of a stroll on a Sunday morning before we scored. Perhaps it's a bit unkind to say it was the easiest game we've played all season - but it would be hard to say anything else."

However, there was a downside to the victory that keeps United in second place and Kensington without a point to their name in 12 matches.

Midfielder and captain Matt Keown caught his studs in the turf after an hour and damaged a knee, requiring him to hobble to hospital, and it looks like the end of his season.

Danny Paxton said: "He has to go for more tests and we're not sure what he's done to it at the moment, but it's not promising. He was telling us the doctors think he may have a dislocation."

SENIOR AMATEUR DIVISION CHELSEA TOWN......................3 FULHAM NORTH.....................0

CHELSEA moved to within a point of Pearscroft at the top - and better still for the Blues - they have a game in hand over the Maida Vale side.

Chelsea have recovered from the loss of key players at the end of last season to resume business at the right end of the table.

And Mo Maan reckoned this Sunday win was as easy as it gets.

The Town player said: "Our finishing was hopeless.

"There were all kinds of scuffed chances that went begging, and if we play like this against a better side we might not be so lucky."

Harry Ball scored the best of the three when he ran on to slide the ball under the keeper either side of a Patrick Nash brace.

SPORTSMAN'S ROUND-UP EEL BROOK RANGERS are at the wrong end of Division Four - but secretary/player Matt Hardinge loves every minute of the team's debut season - despite doubleheader defeats to RBL Fulham on Sunday.

Rangers lost the derbies 4-1 and 3-1, but Hardinge reckoned the Sportsman League is where his team will stay even if they are relegated.

"Most of the teams we've met try to play football, rather than give you a good kicking," he said. "I've played every position there is - including keeper. I saved a penalty but then let in a soft goal."

Ryan Chandler and Hardinge himself, now up front, grabbed Sunday's consolations.

Shoots & Leaves have run over a black cat according to Gerry Rockett.

The Division One team's supremo suffered a needless penalty gifted to Tooting Broadway on Sunday, as well as an own goal when Martin Britnell neatly headed over his keeper. Marvin West's penalty was not enough for the Shepherd's Bush side in the 2-1 defeat.

Cool Oak Rangers boss Conrad Grant was not best pleased either with his side's showing after the 5-3 loss to Wig Army.

Grant has threatened to buykeeper Rob Nicholson a step-ladder after he was lobbed three times to put Wig in the driving seat.

The pick of Cool Oak's three goals was a debut strike for 18-year-old Mike Walker from a curling free-kick outside the box.

Razors will hope the real thing in their Bert Gaby cup final against Kew Antigua A goes better than the dress rehearsal on Sunday. The Division Four sides meet again on April 26 to contest the silverware but Razors lost this encounter 4-2. James Woodburn, on the stroke of half-time, and a Jamie Titford penalty hauled their team back to 3-2, only to be hit by a second-half sucker punch as they pressed forward.

And there's always one red-faced team the day the clocks go forward.

The dubious honour this year went to West Kensington outfit Dansu AllStars, who along with SW Alliance, were late to their Division One clash just in time for the referee to call it off.
