Brentford midfielder Josh McEachran has been ruled out for three months after breaking his foot in training on Friday.

The former Chelsea man collided with Toumani Diagouraga in training and the medical reports have confirmed that he has broken three bones in his foot.

Head coach Marinus Dijkhuizen was bemoaning the freak accident and felt as if nothing had happened in the incident.

He said: “Bad news, yesterday in training McEachran broke three bones in his foot so he will be out for at least three months so that is not good.

“He had contact with Toumani and blocked the ball. It seemed like nothing happened but he was off to hospital.

“It's an accident. It's bad news for the club and the squad.”

Dijkhuizen will not be looking to the loan market at this stage as he feels he has strong midfielder options in Toumani Diagouraga, Konstantin Kerschbaumer and Marcos Tebar.

He added: “I think we have a lot of good players. Toumani had a good game as did Kerschbaumer and Marcos Tebar so we have a lot of options.”

Will Josh McEachran be a good signing for Brentford?

Jonathan Douglas was absent after being told he can leave Brentford. James Tarkowski missed the game with a stiff hip so he was rested as a precaution. Lewis Macleod is yet to train with the group.

Andreas Bjelland felt his groin so was taken off to avoid further aggravation and Dijkhuizen called it a 'small problem.'
