Jose Mourinho is thrilled to be heading back to Wembley for the first time since rejoining Chelsea.

The Blues will contest the Capital One Cup final after beating Liverpool 1-0 in their semi-final second leg match at Stamford Bridge tonight.

Branislav Ivanovic headed in an extra-time winner to settle the classic cup tie as both teams fought tooth and nail to claim their spot at the home of football.

Mourinho’s side saw one route to Wembley blocked at the weekend as Bradford knocked them out of the FA Cup.

But the Special One will gladly take an appearance in the League Cup under the arch and says the fans helped get Chelsea over the line tonight.

He said: “The most important thing is we won. The group is happy and the group deserves a lot and the supporters were fantastic.

“This is what we need. I know Wembley always means a lot. It doesn’t matter whether it is the FA Cup or the Capital One Cup. Wembley is Wembley. The fans push us for Wembley.

“The difference was a goal that happen to us. It should have happened before in the 90 minutes.

“My Ramires is back. That is the second best news of the day. The first is that we are in the final and the second is that my Ramires is back after so many weeks of work.

Mourinho was also quick to praise a Liverpool side who pushed his team all the way at the Bridge in a tie that often threatened to boil over.

He added: “I want to be honest and fair with them and say that they were there. They are a very good team. Great work by Brendan, changing the shape and the mode of play.

“The way they started the season was not going in the right direction and he was intelligent enough to change and to create a new team. This is a new Liverpool team – and a very difficult opponent. I’m even happier because we beat a very good team over two legs.”
