Jose Mourinho has guaranteed Chelsea fans that skipper John Terry will be given a new contract.

The Blues skipper has been in incredible form this season and was man of the match in the Capital One Cup final victory over Tottenham.

Terry’s current deal is due to expire in the summer but the Special One is confident the central defender will remain at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho said of a new deal for Terry: “It will be before the end of the season for sure. What I can guarantee is that he will be a Chelsea player in the next season. I know what my board tells me and I know what the player tells me. No doubt.”

Terry was made to wait until May last year before agreeing terms on a new one-year contract, in line with the club’s policy for players over the age of 30.
