MARTIN Jol hopes youngster Kerim Frei can cement a place in the Fulham first team.

Injuries to Bobby Zamora, Andy Johnson and Damien Duff meant the 18-year-old Swiss made his first Premier League start in Boxing Day's draw with Chelsea.

Frei, who has mainly featured in the Europa League after making his debut against NSI Runavik back in June, failed to disappoint with a dazzling display in the 1-1 stalemate at the Bridge.

And Whites boss Jol hopes the winger can keep a regular spot in Fulham's starting XI.

He said: “Frei played in the Carling Cup [against Chelsea] and was one of the best on the pitch.

“He played 120 minutes and that was in my mind, so I thought maybe he can do it again.

“Hopefully he can become a regular for us now.”
