He had reportedly been planning a leaving bash for next week in west London as he prepares to bring down the curtain on his long association with the club.

However, the Blues were beaten 3-2 at the Stadium of Light as second-half goals from Fabio Borini and Jermain Defoe completed an incredible turnaround on Wearside.

And Terry saw red late on after picking up a second yellow card to earn him his second dismissal of the campaign following his sending off at West Brom last August.
