Jake Nicholson has committed his future to AFC Wimbledon.

The former Spurs youngster netted one goal in four games for the Dons after arriving on a short-term deal in March, scoring on his debut in the 4-3 win against Cheltenham.

However, the club were docked points by the Football League as he was ineligible to play in the seven-goal thriller due to an administration error.

Nicholson joins fellow youngster Tom Beere in signing a contract extension at Kingsmeadow.

Assistant manager Neil Cox told Dons Player: “Jake showed a really good appetite for the game at the end of last season.

"He wants to get on the ball and pass it. It does not matter to him if he gives it away.

"He works really hard, makes a lot of runs forward, and we know that he has goals in him. Jake is going to be one of our midfielders for next season and he will be pushing the others hard.

"Though he is one for the future, from day one of pre-season Jake has to push for a spot in the team."
