QPR prospects Ryan Manning and Reece Grego-Cox were the stars of the show as the Republic of Ireland under-21s recorded a 3-1 victory over Azerbaijan.

A brace from Manning either side of an Azerbaijan strike set the Boys in Green on their way, before Grego-Cox added a third to secure the victory on a night of real pride as the Hoops stars stole the show.

Speaking to the Irish Independent after the match, Ireland manager Noel King hailed the QPR duo for their efforts during the game.

He said: "This was a difficult match, particularly with having to travel 5,000km to get here and then acclimatise.

"The players were very professional in how they managed the game. They kept possession for long spells. The two QPR boys did very well. Their work-rate was excellent."

The performance is bound to inspire confidence in Manning and Grego-Cox who will be hoping to use the display as a catalyst to kick-on over the coming weeks and months.
