Maxime Colin and Andreas Bjellend are major doubts for Brentford's season opener against Huddersfield due to injury.

The Frenchman picked up a calf injury against Peterborough on Tuesday and missed Saturday's 1-1 draw at Millwall in Tony Craig's testimonial.

While the Dane hasn't featured since hurting his abductor at Wycombe earlier in July and head coach Dean Smith is unsure about a possible return.

The Bees boss said: “Maxime felt his calf after the Kaiserslautern game. I pulled him off during it as was planned.

“He felt it was a contact injury but it feels longer than that. He'll be touch and go for Saturday.

Doubt: Andreas Bjelland

“Andreas is out with an abductor strain. I'm not sure how he'll be.”

Nico Yennaris could return for the trip to Yorkshire after he wasn't risked at Millwall, while Alan McCormack could return to training on Monday as well.

Smith added: “Nico will be back in full training on Monday. I didn't want to risk him for this game. Alan will hopefully be joining training on Monday.”

Andy Gogia has also been tipped for the Griffin Park exit door with a move to Dynamo Dresden but Smith remained tight-lipped about his future.

He explained: “Andy has been in and around the squad. There's nothing I can to the speculation. That'll be in the hands of the directors of football, not me.”
