Ilias Chatzitheodoridis reveals his biggest regret from Brentford's loss to Norwich

The Greek full back made his home debut, after shining against AFC Wimbledon and QPR in earlier rounds, and produced a strong performance in the 3-1 loss

Ilias Chatzitheodoridis admitted that Brentford's Carabao Cup loss to Norwich hurt because it is likely to limit his playing chances in the immediate future.

The Greek full back made his home debut, after shining against AFC Wimbledon and QPR in earlier rounds, and produced a strong performance in the 3-1 loss.

With Rico Henry the 'league left back' it means that Chatzitheodoridis will find his chances limited in the coming months.

“It was a defeat so it's hard to say I'm pleased with my performance. Some things I did well but other things I can do better,” he said.

“The cup games have been a big chance for me to show myself. The loss hurt us so we're out of the cup so I'll lose the chance to play games. I hope to have chances in league games.”

Chatzitheodoridis was well supported by the fans, who sang his name, and he gave his thanks for the support, revealing it pushes him further.

He added: “The atmosphere was very good and the fans were very positive. I was hearing my name and I was happy.

“I'm pleased to have the fans' support. They push me a lot and when I hear it it pushes me more and more.”

Now, the 19-year-old will be pushing Henry for a spot as the starting left back in league football.

“We help each other. Rico helps me with stuff as he has more experience than me. We work well in training,” he explained.

“I like Rico and he's a good player so it's a big challenge for me. In training, I am giving 100 per cent ever day so the boss can show me and trust me more and put me in front of him.”
