Scott Hogan will dismiss any speculation surrounding his future at Brentford and believes the talk will all stem from the Bees winning games.

The striker has scored five goals in his last three games, including a hat-trick in the 5-0 win over Preston.

If he maintains this form then interest from bigger-budget Championship clubs and Premier League sides will surely follow and he has been linked with Swansea in recent days.

But Hogan is only focused on what his job description contains: score goals for Brentford and help them win games.

He said: “If the speculation comes on any of us it's because we're winning games.

“If speculation comes then brilliant as we're doing things right and we're winning games.

“There's no escaping it. You have to come to terms with it. I'm paid by Brentford to score goals on the pitch.”

Hogan, naturally, wants to play Premier League football and sees no reason why Brentford can't dream about winning the Championship.

He said: “We want promotion or top six. We want to aim for the top two. What's the point if you're not going to shoot for the stars?

“People dream about football so why can't we dream of winning the league and getting promoted.

“We've started well and better than we have in previous years. If we keep picking up points here and there (we could be up there).

“Maybe last year we'd have lost at Villa. It's a point gained although we felt we should have won. We need to believe in ourselves and what we do and see where we end up.”
