CB Hounslow United will be out to end a fouryear itch against rivals Hanworth Villa in Saturday's derby.

You have to go all the way back to December 2004 for CB's last win against their neighbours, with a 3-1 win at Villa's Rectory Meadow.

Since then, seven derbies have been played, with Villa winning five and two being drawn.

Back in the days of CB's last win, the two teams were Middlesex County League rivals. But since a promotion each, now ply their trade in Combined Counties Division One.

Both have plans to continue their growth too, with Villa upgrading Rectory Meadow to avoid a repeat of last season - when they finished in a promotion place but couldn't go up - while CB have plans to move from Osterley Sports Club to a new ground in Green Lane.

Since CB joined Villa in the Combined Counties League two years ago, a year after Villa's promotion, Villa have done the double over their rivals in successive seasons.

But CB stemmed the tide in first derby of this season, drawing 1-1 at Osterley Sports Club in October when Anthony Bridgeman levelled Darren Noads' opener for Villa.

Saturday's game kicks off at Rectory Meadow at 3pm.

Both teams warmed up with wins on Saturday, with CB moving up to 10th after beating Warlingham 4-1.

Bridgeman opened the scoring on seven minutes and Wayne Simmonds added a second from the penalty spot on 25.

Odin Phillips made it 3-0 on 35 minutes, but Warlingham pulled one back before half-time.

However, Simmonds' second on 52 minutes ensured a comfortable victory.

Villa, meanwhile, secured a safe passage through to the third round of the Anagram Records Trophy, with a 25th-minute Charlie McCarthy strike earning a 1-0 win over Bethnal Green United.

The Villains have another cup match on Tuesday night when they host Cobham in the second round of the Southern Combination Cup.

They are still second in Division One, five points off leaders Mole Valley SCR but with a game in hand.

Meanwhile, match referee Andy Beeney wrote to the Combined Counties League to congratulate Villa and Mole Valley for playing out an eventful game last week - for all the right reasons.

"With it being a top-of-the-table clash, you can expect it to be a bit fiery," said Beeney, who was the man in black for Villa's 5-4 defeat.

"But much to my pleasure it was quite the opposite, with both teams wanting to play football and just one caution, for handball, in the 80th minute.

"It was a great game to referee and both teams, benches and supporters were a credit to themselves and the league."

Also in Division One, the weather put a dampener on Feltham's hopes of doing Villa a favour, when their game against Mole Valley on Saturday was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

The Blues will be hoping for better weather this Saturday when they host Coulsdon United.
