Tim Hoogland reckons Fulham have to be in Bolton’s face for the entire 90 minutes tomorrow night – unlike the first half Birmingham on Saturday.
The Whites got off to a ragged start and trailed at the interval 1-0 before caretaker boss Kit Symons had a word but delightedly watched his team turn it around in the second period.
Hoogland was in the right place at the right time just past the hour to notch an equaliser, albeit with a large slice of luck.
The initial shot from Niko Bodurov was skewed, but a block and rebound later found the German defender sliding the ball home via a slight deflection.
“It got a little deflection, but you need a bit of luck,” he said. “If you don’t shoot, you don’t score, and it was the turning point of the game.
If we were to have won 4-1 it would not have been a surprise.”
Hoogland moved top joint scorer with three alongside Ross McCormack. Hugo Rodallega pounced to wrap a debut win, the man signed from Schalke in the summer reckons the cup is only half full.
“It’s a tough league, the second half at Birmingham was really great, but we have to remember it and play like that for 90 minutes in the next game.”
