Fulham boss Roy Hodgson believes the opening-day defeat at Hull will remind fans of just how hard the Premiership is.

The Whites pulled off the great escape to stay up last term but Hodgson expects another survival dogfight. "It's going to be 38 very tough matches, each one being a fight for points along the way," he said.

"This defeat brought that home to us very clearly and we've told the players that. The season ends in May - it's the number of points we have then that's important."

Fulham went ahead with a Seol Ki-Hyeon early header. But after the Tigers equalised, a rare slip by Paul Konchesky allowed Caleb Folan to steal a 2-1 win.
