Matt Heywood has four weeks to decide on his Brentford future.

The Bees skipper and player-of-the-year has been stalling on a new contract since the end of the season.

While Brentford have offered him what they can, the former Bristol City and Swindon centre-back is keeping his options open to see if any interest develops elsewhere. Manager Andy Scott revealed in the Chronicle last month that Heywood could find himself sidelined if the Bees sign a replacement and nobody comes in for him.

And this week, Scott added: "Matty has four weeks left to answer our offer, and he'll probably use all that time too. At that point, we'd be entitled to withdraw the offer, and it's a decision we'll make only then."
