Hayes & Yeading fans will be cheering on a different team on Wednesday night as they look to secure Conference South safety.

Phil Babb’s H&Y won 1-0 at Gosport last week but slipped quickly back into the mire on Easter Monday after a 3-1 defeat at Eastbourne.

One plus for United was the news that Tonbridge Angels’ relegation was confirmed following their embarrassing 7-1 hammering at the hands 0f Chelmsford City.

That means two of the three relegation spots have been decided, leaving the trapdoor to remain open while one more club falls through.

Maidenhead are currently occupying the final relegation spot and travel to Havant & Waterlooville in midweek and H&Y fans will be paying very close attention to the fixture.

Defeat would seal their drop out of the Conference South and ensure Hayes & Yeading, who are sitting in 18th spot, play in the division again next season.

Hayes & Yeading’s final game at Woking, and their last of the current campaign, takes place on Saturday.

A pay what you like entrance fee will be in operation at Kingfield and fans are encouraged to attend and help the boys get over the line.
