Hayes & Yeading await word on two stricken Conference Premier clubs before deciding whether to launch an appeal against their relegation.

If Salisbury City and Hereford fail to meet debts by Thursday, United should retain their place in Conference South with the other two plummeting past them into a lower tier.

H&Y chairman Tony O’Driscoll was naturally unwilling to make a separate appeal if the FA do the job for him at no further expense.

United were disappointed on Friday after Vauxhall Motors called it a day in Conference North during March, but Oxford City were reprieved instead.

Now, O’Driscoll not only wants to see what happens to the two Premier clubs, he will pore over FA reasons for turning down H&Y’s first appeal.

He said: “I was told I would receive the reasons early this week, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was later. If it was Friday, it wouldn’t surprise me either.

“The other clubs have been given until Thursday, and so if we appeal unnecessarily then we’re throwing money away. I think they’ll be demoted two divisions if they fail to satisfy the FA.”

Both Hereford and Sailsbury came through a tense weekend at the Football Conference's Annual General Meeting at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport.

The Bulls have to settle their £148,000 football debts to meet Conference requirements, while the Whites also have outstanding wages to pay, which are thought to run into thousands.

Hereford have been told that they must pay all their football creditors – and the Conference want proof debts have been paid.
