Hastings 1 Harrow Borough 0

A well below-par display by Harrow on Saturday saw them lose on their first-ever visit to Hastings' Pilot Field ground in a Ryman League Premier Division fixture on Saturday.

Manager David Howell made some changes to the side that had hammered Horsham in the previous game.

He restored Nick Burton to central defence, moving Wayne Walters to a role just in front of the back four, and allowing the returning Jamie Lawrence to play in the forward area that has been his role in a number of recent away games.

Daniel McGonigle and Kwasi Frempong were the unlucky pair of last week's heroes who had to drop to the bench.

Harrow were out of the blocks sharply, and a neat passing move in the third minute ended with Jonathan Constant laying the ball to Bobby Highton, whose curler from the edge of the box shaved Worgan's left-hand post.

Danny Leech then had a shot at goal when a Constant corner came to him at the far post, but Worgan saved comfortably.

After a defensive colleague had sold him short with a back pass, the home keeper then made a brave save at Lawrence's feet.

But it was the hosts who were unlucky not to go ahead in the 21st minute, when Tim Olorunda's 20-yarder dipped over Gary Ross and came off the underside of the bar.

Following up, a home forward couldn't control the loose ball and the Harrow defence cleared.

Adams then rose to flash a header from a left-wing cross just over Ross's bar.

Highton side-footed over from 20 yards from Victor Asombang's cross, and a brave clearance by Elford, scooping the ball over his own bar, kept Gary Meakin's free-kick from reaching a well positioned Lee Hall.

Half-time saw James Fraser replace Lawrence, troubled by a recurrence of his neck problem, but Borough were caught cold when Hastings scored 90 seconds into the second half.

A break on the right ended with a cross to the far post and Ade Olorunda outjumped his marker to head back across the Harrow keeper and into the net.

Leech's shot from Constant's corner was on target, but inadvertently cannoned off his own man, Daniel Brown. Constant then put a free-kick over the bar, and a scramble in the home goal saw an own-goal prevented by a goal-line clearance.

At the other end, Carey's shot was deflected for a corner, and Ross saved well at a home forward's feet.

Worgan dived to his left to turn round Constant's shot, and McGonigle headed a Constant corner across goal for Leech to shoot wide.

Walters went close with a header from Meakin's free-kick, but Harrow were unable to exert any concerted pressure and

Hastings went close to doubling their lead late on when Sawyer wriggled across the box from the left and shot just past the near post.
