Brede Hangeland has told his Fulham team-mates to forget about Europe and concentrate on avoiding another Premier League relegation scrap.

The Whites beat the drop by their skin of their teeth last season thanks to a final-day victory at Portsmouth.

Roy Hodgson's side are ninth after Saturday's goalless draw at Liverpool, but the Norwegian centre-back isn't getting carried away by their good start.

He said: "I will be happy when, and if, we avoid relegation. If we do that then we can try and get as high up as we can.

"We're in the middle of the table right now. If you win a couple you can move up a bit, but if you lose a couple you can be right down there again. If we keep playing like we have in the past five or six games we'll be alright."
