Esteban Granero has told Harry Redknapp he wants to stay at QPR.

The Spanish midfielder featured 27 times for Rangers following his big-money move from Real Madrid in 2012, but couldn’t stop the R's getting relegated from the top-flight.

Granero was shipped out on loan to Real Sociedad at the beginning of the season as Redknapp looked to rebuild his squad for a Championship promotion push.

However, the 26-year-old has returned to Harlington for pre-season training and is ready to fight for place at Loftus Road.

Redknapp said: “He had a knee ligament injury last year at Real Sociedad but has come back fit, worked hard and showed good character.

“He’s a smashing lad and wants to stay. I hope we can get the best out of him and he can have a good season for us.”
