Brentford FC will have an extra fan on the terraces, and perhaps thousands more online, when they visit Barnet on Saturday.

That fan is self-styled ‘Gloryhunter’ – a phrase not normally associated with The Bees – Spencer Austin.

The 34-year-old’s aim is to go through the entire season supporting the team which wins each game he watches, and will followed along the way by the itv.com website.

The team drawn out of the hat for him to begin his pilgrimage with was Grimsby Town, and so Austin arrived at Griffin Park on Saturday.

But with the Haddocks having been thrashed 4-0 by the Bees, Austin has now taken on Brentford as his club.

And he will continue following Andy Scott’s men until the next time they lose – hopefully beyond Saturday’s trip to Underhill.

For an interview with Austin about his trip to Griffin Park, and his only previous visit to the home of Brentford FC, see this week's Chronicle, on sale Thursday priced 50p.
