Sone Aluko stood out as a free transfer from a very long list of candidates at the end of the season.

The former Hull striker has now been snapped up by Fulham on a two-year deal, and for those excited to see what their club has got - here are a handful of things you need to know.

The obvious question first - why did Hull release Aluko?

On his day, Aluko is a world beater - the trouble is he doesn't have enough of these days. One week, he can be the best forward in the Premier League, never mind Championship, the next he's anonymous.

To be a regular starter in the top flight you've got to hit your mark most weeks. This is the challenge for Whites gaffer Slavisa Jokanovic - to make hid new forward more consistent.

He scores spectacular goals - but not enough of them

Aluko has yet to be a prolific goal getter, unlike his illustrious new team-mate Ross McCormack, but when he does find the net, he does so in style.

Aluko comes from a family of academics - his preferred reading on the team coach? Philosophy...

Apart from his illustrious sister down the road at Chelsea who holds a law degree gained at Brunel in Uxbridge, more of her later, Aluko's father is a former MP in Nigeria, and his uncle Bolaji Aluko, is a chemical engineering professor at Howard University in Washington DC in the States.

His Achilles heel was his Achilles heel

Aluko hit the ground running in his first half season with Hull after joining them in 2012 scoring eight times - and then he got a bad Achilles injury, and never really recovered the scintillating form on his arrival.

He is 100 per cent fit now, but insiders at Hull believe things moved on around him after getting the unlucky injury, and he's yet to recover the same magic of August to November, 2012.

Is sister Eniola more famous than Sone?

After all, she is Chelsea's top striker; something of a hero in England's 2015 World Cup campaign, and a model for women's football.

Maybe, big sis can pass on the tips to her new Fulham forward bro over a cup of tea? After all, it's just down the road from Blues.
