Just when it seems like the season is getting into full swing we are hit with the first international break.

So what have we learnt from Fulham's opening five league matches? Well on paper, a win, loss and three draws isn't too attractive, but then again we still have 41 games to play.

And let's be honest, we should have beaten Norwich, the dogged 10-men shift in the draw with Reading was impressive and the Leeds game could have gone either way.

Those opponents, including Sheffield Wednesday, are all quality sides that will be knocking around the play-off positions come May.

More than six points from five league games would have helped us in our push for automatic promotion, but I for one – and I'm sure many Fulham fans agree – think it's been a slow start, and that's it, not bad, just slow.

The team have to contend with the pressure put on them to perform with the brand of football we were used to seeing last year, week in, week out. From the games so far, I've seen that brand of football in all but two games - the two we lost.

Celebration: Lucas Piazon scores against Reading

If you had to pick a win from Fulham's five opening league games, it would have to be against Ipswich. It shows we're finally getting the ball rolling and to completely outplay a side away from home that had a 100 per cent record going into the match, shows things are starting to click.

Let's forget about the Carabao Cup. We all love a good cup run but the league really is our priority this season and extra games (not to mention extra time and so on) are an unwanted distraction.

Fulham are in a good place right now. Unfortunately Lucas Piazon suffered a nasty injury (at least the surgery was successful), but with Tom Cairney now finding form again after his injury and Ryan Sessegnon still very much a Fulham player, there is so much to be optimistic about.

Roll on Cardiff, it'll be a good test for us and hopefully Rafa Soares will soon be in the mix. A win against the high-flying Bluebirds would certainly let the rest of the league know, after a slow start, Fulham are back.
