Adam Taggart fell into a select Fulham group of two when he signed for Perth Glory this week.

Along with Ian McGuckin, signed from Hartlepool in 2007, the Australian World Cup international was the only player signed for a fee never to play a single minute for Whites in a competitive game throughout the club’s 137-year history.

In fact, the only time Taggart pulled on a competitive shirt was in three friendlies, two at Crawley, both pre-season in 2014 and last July, and against Aston Villa in Portugal after that.

Even then, it was as a second-half sub in all cases.

After the second friendly against Crawley, GetWestLondon witnessed a minor row between coaches and player when he initially refused to warm down.

Boss-at-the-time Kit Symons called the striker ‘mardy’ - a northern word for grumpy - and for most of his 18 month-stay with Fulham found him injured with a variety of ailments.

His home country finally came to his rescue following a loan deal to Dundee United, although under FIFA rules, Taggart has to wait until next season before re-joining the A-League where he made his name.

The player tweeted just how grateful he was to be back Down Under.

“Back at the club I grew up supporting and started my career with. Great to be back at @perthgloryfc” he said.
