Alex Kacaniklic has ruled out a loan move away from Fulham and has set his sights on a spot in Martin Jol’s starting XI.

The Sweden star has been forced to play a bit-part role over the past month, and didn’t even make the squad for the wins against Stoke City and Crystal Palace.

However, the 22-year-old winger boosted his chances of a starting berth with a goalscoring cameo in Saturday’s defeat to Manchester United.

And Kacaniklic, who spent successful spells at Watford and Burnley earlier in his Fulham career, is determined to nail down a regular place on the flank.

He said: “It’s very pleasing to be back playing again.

“I’m 22 now, so I want to play every week. If I don’t play it’s not good for my development.

“But I will never go on loan to the Championship again. I feel I’m on a higher level now.”

Kacaniklic’s second-half strike restored some pride for Fulham, who were left with a mountain to climb after conceding three goals in 13 minutes before the break.

The former Liverpool youngster’s effort took a wicked deflection off Wayne Rooney on its way in, but he added: “It’s definitely mine. It was going towards goal anyway, even though it got a touch.”
