Fulham plan to extend James Husband’s loan into a third month - even though original left-back choice Luke Garbutt is back to full fitness.

The latter pulled up lame before a Championship ball was kicked with ankle ligament damage that necessitated a second call for Husband, on loan at the Cottage last season.

Both featured in yesterday’s 2-2 draw with Charlton, with Everton loanee Garbutt pushed up the left flank as a swap for Ben Pringle on the hour.

Good form: James Husband

Whites boss Kit Symons is looking to bring in new faces during the international break, but is happy to use up two of his loan options on Garbutt and Husband, whose current deal is up on October 24.

He said: “James is a really important part of our squad, and I’ll pick the best team for each game. I don’t like too many changes unless they’re enforced on you.

“Yeah (we’ll look to extend his loan). James is a very good player and when each loan period comes to an end we’ll review it and go from there. But he’s done well and what I want to do is a get an element of strength in depth.”

The gaffer pointed out his two right backs also played in the same side, so why not Husband and Garbutt?

“We ended up in the Blackburn game recently, with Ryan Fredericks playing one in front of Jazz Richards.”

Symons seethed in the sun at The Valley as a coasting Fulham were denied a win in the 96th minute.

It will be no consolation that Fulham did the exact same thing to Charlton in December 2006 when Franck Queudrue's stoppage-time volley denied boss Alan Pardew a winning start for a first 2-2 between the clubs in recent times.

Symons said: "I'm incredibly disappointed. To be 2-0 up and dominant in the game and cruising to then throw it away is inexplicable.

"There's no excuse. We should have gone on and got a third and killed the game off. We made poor decisions; don't take those chances when they come. If that's the case you've got to do the job right at the other end.

"Two free headers: two points thrown away. Up to the last 10 minutes we never looked in any trouble whatsoever."
