Fulham will check on keeper Maarten Stekelenburg later today after he suffered a swollen eye in last night's 3-2 defeat to Liverpool.

The Dutch international was forced off late in the second half after being caught by Luis Suarez's boot, with David Stockdale replacing him between the sticks.

However, boss Rene Meulensteen is hopeful Stekelenburg hasn't suffered any serious damage.

“He got the boot right in his eye so it’s swollen up straight away,” said the Craven Cottage chief.

“How bad the damage is, we have to assess. But it was that big that he couldn’t carry on. He’s fine but it’s a big swollen black eye.”

Stekelenburg is expected to be fine for Fulham's crucial relegation clash at West Brom on February 22.
