FULHAM suffered late heartbreak at Goodison Park after Mikel Arteta's stoppage-time penalty stole the points for Everton.

Whites boss Roy Hodgson rung the changes from Thursday's draw in Hamburg, but his patched-up side looked like holding out for a draw before Arteta beat Mark Schwarzer from the spot after Chris Baird's foul on Tim Cahill.

The visitors had taken the lead on 36 minutes when Erik Nevland capitalised on Leyton Baines's poor backpass, only for Victor Anichebe to square things up after the break.

And David Moyes's men nicked the points four minutes into added time when Arteta slammed home the winner.

One positive for Fulham was the return of John Pantsil , who played for the first time this year after suffering a knee injury.
