Woodrow bagged a brace that day and went on to start Jokanovic’s first league game in charge against Sheffield Wednesday, but only lasted 25 minutes as he fractured a metatarsal in his left foot.
The 21-year-old hasn’t played since and has gone on to watch strike partners Ross McCormack and Moussa Dembele take their season’s tallies to 18 and 12 respectively.
In comparison Woodrow has just four goals to his name this term, but insists he is ready to fire on all cylinders as he gets back to full fitness.
“My injury is going well and I am looking to get back to training in the next week or so, having spend two months out,” said Woodrow.
“It came at a frustrating time as it came off the back of me doing pretty well and scoring twice against Rotherham, only for me to get injured not long after. So I am focussed on getting back to fitness and doing my bit to help the team climb back up the table.
“Thankfully the manager was actually at the Rotherham game when I scored twice so he remembers that and hopefully he knows what I can do.
“We have such talent in this team up front with the likes of Ross, Moussa and Matt Smith, but I want to play my part.
“I am concentrating on getting back to fitness, getting back in the team and making the manger aware of what I can do.”
Woodrow was speaking at Liberty Primary School in Mitcham as he took part in the inaugural National Playground Football Day.
Credit card company and League Cup sponsor Capital One established the day in the calendar to celebrate the long-standing British tradition of playground football, and Woodrow was delighted to throw his weight behind it.
“My earliest memories of kicking a ball are with my mates at school, who I’m still close with today,” he added
“Getting back on the playground reminded me how much fun and significant those break times you spend in your childhood are.”
Fulham striker Cauley Woodrow is supporting Capital One's National Playground Football Day, encouraging schools across the country to celebrate with a lunchtime kick-about. To find out more visit facebook.com/CapitalOneUK
