Fulham goalkeeper Andy Lonergan believes the fans are entitled to show their disapproval after the supporters booed the side off.

The Whites trailed to a Nahki Wells strike going into stoppage time with the home crowd calling for manager Kit Symons to leave the club.

Cauley Woodrow spared Fulham from defeat but even a last-gasp equaliser did not spare the hosts being booed off and the boss came under renewed pressure to leave.

But goalkeeper Lonergan insisted the club's fans are allowed to show their feelings if they are unhappy.

He said: “You're entitled to your opinion. It's not difficult because that's what we do. We've got to play football and if we're not playing well they'll let us know.

“I didn't hear much. They've got a right to be disappointed as they want to see the team win. On the whole, it was a good attendance again. Hopefully they'll stick with us and we can reward them.”

Lonergan believes results will come, given the Whites performances so far this campaign.

Conceding late goals has been Fulham's Achilles heel and, had matches ended after 85 minutes this season, the Whites would be sitting on five points instead of just two and the former Bolton man believes Woodrow's strike could kick-start their season.

“I think (the draw) was just rewards for our play. I believe the goal could be vital for us. Defeat would have been disastrous. That can give us belief in that we can go to the 95th minute and dig out a result.

He added: “After the Brighton game, we could have had six points quite easily. We don't have so we've got to get points on the board as quickly as possible.”
