Welcome to our weekly Fulham Q&A session with reporter Ryan O'Donovan as we look back on a terrible October for the Whites and look ahead to Derby County.

Five games without a win just isn't good enough for a side that were tipped by many for promotion this season and their next test is another tough one against Gary Rowett's Derby.

There's also been the issue of Craig Kline's sacking which has seen the club undergo a bit of turmoil behind the scenes recently, which coupled with their on-the-field displays has left fans worried.

We're hosting our Tuesday lunchtime chat from 12pm, but you can get your questions in now using the form below and ask our Fulham reporter, Ryan O'Donovan, anything that is on your mind regarding Fulham.

Thanks for joining us!

Thanks for joining us this afternoon!

If Ireland don’t lose tonight, I’ll be back throughout the week from all the goings on at Slavisa Jokanovic’s pre-Derby presser, as well as the game itself, right here on GetWestLondon.

Bye for now!

Should Fulham carry on with the 3-5-2 formation

Robbie asks: Do you think should carry on with the 3 5 2 system?

I think the formation the side have at the moment suits them best, it worked well last season for a reason and it will come off again.

Slavisa tried changing to five at the back to cut out the defensive errors but it didn’t work, and the players seem more comfortable with the four at the back.

I think new personnel are needed in January to make the spine stronger in all honesty, and these weren’t added in the summer.

Final call for questions

Here’s our last call for questions for this afternoon’s Q&A session, so get them in now before it’s too late

Facundo (mhm) says: You look at the summer recruitment and how they’ve faired so far and it’s a shambles.

- Rui Fonte, £9m
- Ojo, doesn’t look good enough
- Piazon, sadly injured
- Soares, too early to say
- Djalo, who knows what happened there!
- Norwood, looks pretty good
- Kamara, too raw
- Graham, unused
- Mollo, few cameos have been exciting
- Cisse, no opportunities

What does their future hold?

Should we look to have cashed in on a few of these already in January to recoup funds for new faces for the upcoming Window?

If Kline has gone, maybe the signings during his reign will be under-question?

What are your thoughts?

I think the signings in his reign will be under question but whether or not they will be sold in January is a different matter - who would sign players after six months that haven’t played?

It definitely hasn’t been good in terms of recruitment and I think the route that the club went down was a little off, and your list of players prove that.

11 were brought in over the summer and so far, not one has made their mark at the club in the way fans would’ve wanted.

Where the club decide to go with recruitment in January will say a lot about what’s been learnt in this whole sorry saga.

Reception for Chris Martin?

Jane has asked: What kind of reception will Chris Martin be in for?

This will be an interesting one - after his behaviour in January last season I don’t think he’ll be getting a warm one, let’s put it that way.

I do think the side miss someone like Martin up top, someone who drags defenders out of space for others to exploit.

Could Tayo Edun play on Saturday?

Scott has asked: Could Tayo Edun start in place of K-Mac on Saturday?

Good question Scott, I don’t see why not.

Edun has heaps of quality and was training with the England senior side during the week, as well as regularly training with the Fulham first team.

Now is as good a time as any to start him, I think he’s a better prospect and option that Ibrahima Cisse who is another one that hasn’t had the best of starts to life at the Cottage.

What centre back should Fulham bring in?

As says: At times we’ve gone to a back three this season, but realistically we are struggling for centre-back options right now.

Ream, Odoi, Kalas are our options, one which is a natural full-back.

Given the options, and January transfer window approaching, who should SJ and the team bring in?

Cathcart?

This is a good question and it all depends on where the transfer department goes from here.

If they continue along the lines of how they operated last summer, I highly doubt someone like Cathcart would be coming to the club.

However, if they take a different approach, such as Brentford’s transfer committee, then who is to say someone like Catchart, who Jokanovic is a fan of, wouldn’t be signing in January.

Jokanovic was desperate for a centre back in the summer and he was given Marcelo Djalo, who hasn’t been a hit, so I think another one will be high on the list in January.

What do you make of Odoi at centre back?

Steven has asked: What do you make of Odoi at centre back? I thought he played well there and would like to see more.

Hi Steven,

Yeah I agree with you - I think Odoi has done well in the gmaes he’s been selected at centre back and it’s a bit of a left field choice.

I think you have to give credit to Odoi about how versatile he is and how well he can fit into any system, and Slavisa obviously trusts him to do a job at centre back.

i think it’s something we could see more of going forward.

Should Tony Khan come out and support the players?

Hi again Suart,

It depends on what he thinks is best to do - I think he probably would’ve come out and supported Slavisa but now this whole Kline thing has kicked off it makes it fairly difficult for him.

Have Fulham missed Ojo and Piazon?

Russ asks: Have Fulham missed Sheyi Ojo and Lucas Piazon? I have done polls on both with the the huge majoriy thinking Piazon has been missed but Ojo has been more split. What do you think?

Hey Russ!

Yes, I saw and voted in both those polls earlier and I do think Fulham miss both of them, and miss Ojo more than some fans realise.

It may have looked like he wasn’t giving his all for the club in the eyes of some fans, but I feel Fulham were more dangerous when he was on the pitch, and I think that stats actually agree with that assessment.

Piazon is a class act and he started the season so well - I think Slavisa will be looking forward to his return and it will be an early Christmas present for the gaffer.

You look at Fulham at the moment and their lack of attacking threat - I think these two could help solve that issue

Does league position make it likely people will leave?

Scott asks: Does Fulham’s league position make the likes of Tom Cairney more or less likely to leave in January?
Would he react more keenly to interest?

In a normal situation you would say yes, but at the moment I don’t think Cairney would react keenly to moving away given his knee problem.

Had he been fully fit and playing every week, then Fulham might have had a problem, but his knee injury will be a huge sticking point on a move away.

  • Share

What is the problem with Cairney's knee?

If only we knew - I’ve asked both him and Slavisa many times what the problem is, but no one seems to know.

When I spoke to Cairney last he said that no one has been able to tell him what exactly is wrong with it , just that it was hurting and he wanted to wake up morning with the pain gone.

He did mention that he wasn’t worried about it long-term however, which was good to hear.

We’re wading through our questions at the moment but if you have any pressing issues that you want to ask, please do send them over!

Rui Fonte or Aboubakar Kamara?

Terry has asked: Who do you think Fulham’s main striker should be, Fonte or Kamara?

I think Fonte was signed to be Fulham’s number one striker, with Kamara coming in with his raw ability to learn this season and start to push on next.

Of course, it hasn’t turned out that way and they’re both competing to be the main striker, but neither are hitting the back of the net, nor posing the threat strikers should.

I still think Fonte is the main striker, you don’t become a bad player over night, he’s just lacking the confidence.

What is wrong with the squad at the moment?

James has asked: “Just what is wrong with the side at the moment?”

I think it’s a combination of things, firstly I think that teams have figured Fulham out and they’ve been slow to react that.

Secondly, last season the side were lucky with injuries and that seems to have evened out now with the amount of injuries they’ve sustained in the early part of this season.

There’s no confidence there either, which is the biggest worrying point for me, and I think this break will have done them the world of good in that they were able to go away and get their heads together.

Should Tony Khan take responsibility for Kline?

Stuart asks: Should Tony Khan take responsibility for the Kline fiasco, should he resign and why has he said nothing?

Hi Stuart,

The whole Kline business is an extremely confusing one with many different factors, so I’ll do my beast to give you an answer.

Yes, I think Tony should take responsibility for Kline and the whole recruitment stuff - it’s the perfect time to stand up and say things were done wrong but they will be put right.

Secondly, no, I don’t think he should resign. He has the club’s best interests at heart, I have no doubt in that, but people make mistakes.

Football hasn’t been his main sport so he’s learning as he goes, and yeah, that may not be the most ideal way to go about things but he’s a smart man and will get things right eventually.

He’s said nothing probably because of legal issues.

Who should start against Derby?

Mark asks: “What team would you put out against Derby on Saturday?”

An interesting question - I want to see Soares and Mollo start and think coming out of this international break is the best way to go about doing that.

McDonald is out suspended so Norwood would come into midfield, with Johansen and hopefully a fit Cairney - here’s my selection.

First question is in and it's about Kait

Rasmus has asked: Have you talked with Slavisa Jokanovic about Mattias Käit and his future at the club? How far is he from the first team?

Hello Rasmus!

I haven’t chatted with Slav about Kait yet, but I think there seems to be a few players in front of him in the pecking order at Fulham at the moment.

Matt O’Riley, Tayo Edun and Luca de la Torre seem to be closer to the first team than the Estonian at the moment, and Jan Dagur Thorsteinsson is gaining the plaudits in the U23s at the moment.

It may be a while yet for Kait.
