Fulham could have a new striker in January.

That's if the bookmakers are to be believed.

There were reports that the Whites were after Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle during the summer transfer window, with Fulham reportedly offering £15 million for his services, but no move materialised.

That transfer could, however, be done in January, in fact, it looks like it will happen as he is odds-on to make the move from the north east to Craven Cottage.

The frontman has been out of favour at St James' Park, despite scoring 23 goals to fire them to the Championship title last season.

Gayle is proven in the Championship, but, much like during his spell with Crystal Palace, has struggled to tie down a starting berth in Rafa Benitez's team in the Premier League, with all but two of his seven appearances this year coming from the bench.

And the 27-year-old is odds-on to join Slavisa Jokanovic's side when the transfer window reopens on January 1.

Gayle is 1/4 with our friends at Betfair to be a Fulham player come the end of January, with the hotshot just 5/2 to still be a Magpies player - some contrast in the betting market.
