Andy Lonergan has left Fulham for an undisclosed fee to join Wolverhampton Wanderers on a two-year deal, with a further year's option.

The 32-year-old keeper, who had a year left to run on his two-year contract at Craven Cottage, has signed for Whites Championship rivals after losing his first-team place to Marcus Bettinelli.

Lonergan was arguably the best Fulham signing last summer when he joined on a free from Bolton, and more than made up for the absence of Bettinelli when the young keeper suffered a terrible cruciate injury at Hull in August.

Lonergan went on to make 31 appearances, and was on more than a few occasions the hero in a struggling side.

However, Bettinell's recovery saw the last of Lonergan in a 2-1 home defeat to Bristol City on March 12.

Fulham fans were mixed in their reaction with one tweeting he did a 'decent job in a poor side', and another using up his 140 characters thus: 'he's a decent player but terrible in the air. That was his weakness for us.'
