FULHAM put in a professional performance to come away from Hamburg with a goal-less draw last night.

In a game of few chances, neither side were able to break the deadlock ahead of the second leg at Craven Cottage in a week's time.

Whites keeper Mark Schwarzer had a reasonably quiet evening but had to be at his best late on when he first denied Piotr Trochowski from 25 yards with a great tip over and then Hamburg substitute Mladen Petric low down at his near post.

At the other end, Zoltan Gera had Fulham's best chance but he got his feet tangled and Hamburg keeper Frank Rost was able to nip in.

The only down side for Fulham, who have a serious chance of returning to the HSH Nordbank Arena in just under three weeks time, is that Bobby Zamora limped off with a recurrence of his Achilles injury, while Chris Baird was booked, ruling him out of the second leg.
