Roy Hodgson is fuming that District Line tube restrictions on two west London clubs playing at once means Fulham FC must play Swansea just 48 hours after the home clash with West Brom.

The Whites have to face Swansea in the FA Cup replay at Craven Cottage on Tuesday.

Boss Roy Hodgson wanted to play the Welshmen on Wednesday - but won't due to an arrangement between the FA, the police and the two clubs forbidding Chelsea and Fulham to play home matches at the same time.

The Blues entertain Juventus in the Champions League on Wednesday instead.

It isn't the traffic, or the number of police officers needed for two games - but the District Line that conveys both sets of fans to their clubs' nearest stations.

Hodgson was barely able to disguise his anger this week, as he feared for his players' health in gearing up for two back-to-back matches that could shape the Whites' season.

But a police source admitted the fear of the best part of 67,000 trying to get to the Bridge and the Cottage at the same time carried a far greater risk.

The source said: "If supporters got on at say, Earl's Court, heading for either Fulham Broadway or Putney Bridge - you can imagine what that would entail.

"This is a factor that Hammersmith and Fulham Council would consider hard to sanction as the final voice."

With Andy Johnson and Paul Konchesky both feeling the effects of muscle strains, Hodge was keeping his fingers crossed the vital pair wouldn't be joined by a few more in a Cup match that could see extra-time and the dreaded penalty shoot-outs.

He said: "I can't say I'm enamoured to have to play a game on Tuesday after Sunday. Two days after a game is more dangerous than one for players."
