Gary Rowett expects Chris Martin to be inspired by any hostile reception he may receive from the Fulham faithful at the Cottage on Saturday evening.

The Derby striker had a controversial loan spell at the club last season where he refused to play against Reading in an attempt to get recalled back to his parent club.

However, Fulham didn't budge and he eventually came back into the side, although fans weren't as forgiving as Slavisa Jokanovic and refused to take to the striker as they had done.

He returns to the Cottage tomorrow for the first time since that loan spell, but his boss has said he believes any hostile reception for him from the crowd will only make him play better.

"Chris is experienced enough to not concern himself with all that," said Rowett.

"I’m sure this is the sort of game he would relish. If there is any negativity, he would use that to spur him on.

"If Fulham fans want to boo him, that’s up to them but I’m pretty sure that would inspire him to play better."
