With Tom Cairney scoring five of the 15 nominations for Fulham's goal of the season, the sought-after midfielder had a better chance than anyone else of winning the award.

However, the Scotland international had to play second, and third fiddle to Cauley Woodrow in the end, with the 22-year-old's thunderbolt against Leyton Orient in the EFL Cup taking the crown with 44.9 per cent of the vote.

Woodrow himself was surprised by the result, and it's fair to say a few Fulham fans were too.

Many on social media have praised the youngster, who only scored twice for the Cottagers last season having spent the second half of the season on loan at Burton Albion, but others have questioned who voted for it.
