Jazz Richards believes the Fulham squad are beginning to gel and their form will subsequently improve.

The Welsh right-back was one of a plethora of signings over the summer while Kit Symons shipped out eight of his first-team squad.

The 24-year-old knows performances haven’t been up to standard so far this season but believes results will improve as the players build a better understanding of each other.

He said: “We’re a fairly new group of boys, it’s the start of the season and we’re learning how to play with each other and how to get that togetherness, which will come soon.”

Richards and co travel to Middlesbrough this weekend and the youngster thinks three points on the road could kick start their season and see them put a run together which propels them up the Championship.

“Every game is a big one, but especially if you can go away to Middlesbrough and get three points then that’s a statement of intent.

“It’s important now to get a winning streak and build up the points. If we can get the win going into our home games next week then we can push on and keep climbing up the table.”

Five problems Fulham must address to restore a promotion challenge

Middlesbrough currently sit second in the championship and are one of the bookies favourites to be playing Premier League football next season but Richards believes his team-mates are good enough to get a result at the Riverside Stadium.

He added: “Obviously Boro are one of the favourites in the league and it’s away, so it’s going to be a tough game but we are more than good enough to go and beat teams like Middlesbrough, and everyone else in the league.
