Brede Hangeland has been released by Fulham.

The club has confirmed the 32-year-old defender, who still has a year to run on his contract, has left Craven Cottage.

The Norwegian international joined the Whites in 2008 and was then boss Roy Hodgson's first signing.

He made 272 appearances for the club and was an integral part of the side that made the Europa League final in 2010.

The departure comes on the same day that striker Marcello Trotta put in a transfer request.

Fulham were relegated to the Championship this season after a 13-year stay in the Premier League.
