Slavisa Jokanovic was at pains to point out it’s not his job to pick QPR’s team – but gave an unequivocal thumbs-up to one of his Watford squad members who took the Hornets to the Premier League last season.
Gabriele Angella played 36 times for the promoted club scoring twice, and after a shaky start punctuated by injury the loanee defender has found his feet at Rangers as well.
He scored in the 2-0 win over Derby two weeks ago, and has had a six-game straight run since shoring up the side in the 1-1 draw at Sheffield Wednesday in late February.
His former boss, now at Fulham, was happy to act as referee on any future job application with Hoops.
“Angella played in many quality games for Watford last season and many times he made a great job for us when I was working with him,” Jokanovic added.
“But he’s in a different club and he’s in a different squad, and I cannot tell QPR what to do.”
Rs will have to fork out for Angella if they want him permanently. The 26-year-old signed a new five-year deal before he left Vicarage for Loftus Road in the summer, although the player admits his Watford future is uncertain.
"I don’t know really," he added. "I am concentrating to do my best when I have the chance and after we’ll see. I feel well here with the guys, with the coach – we will see."
