Kit Symons hopes Fulham can sneak into the play-offs - just like he did at Crystal Palace.

Symons was player/coach at the Eagles when they secured promotion to the Premier League via the end-of-season lottery in 2003.

The Cottagers are also playing catch up after a disastrous start to the season, but Saturday's 3-1 win against Huddersfield Town extended their unbeaten run to six games.

"The league is wide open," said Symons, whose side go into the international break down in 17th place.

"Top six is possible, but it's a big ask where we come from. For us to get up there we need  to go on a good run which is a monumental task.

"I was caretaker when we started the run at Palace. We snuck in for the last day for sixth spot and beat West Ham in the final. It can be done but Palace was a long time ago. It's not against the realms."
