Not only does Slavisa Jokanovic scorn superstition – the Fulham head coach no time for betting odds that favour his side to stay in the Championship.

The club’s chances have slipped or risen – depending on your point of view – from 1/7 outsiders to a more worrying 4/1 after Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Birmingham.

If ever there was the proverbial six-pointer, it’s the next game at home to MK Dons on Saturday week.

The Craven Cottage visitors are a mere point behind fourth-bottom Whites, and a win for Karl Robinson’s team will see Joka and co slip into the drop zone for the first time this season.

Even so, the people who make money out of predicting the fall guys believe Fulham are safe.

Good for them, says the Whites gaffer, but he has to make sure.

“My job is not betting; it’s trusting my team; and to make sure we have the right mentality,” Jokanovic said.

“Betting is for people who have time. My time I have to spend on the field.

“Superstitions? I try to spend my time what is around me. I try to make fewer mistakes. I don’t expect a man from outer space to come and fix my dilemma.

“I spend my time for finding solutions. I believe in different things.”
