Jozabed Sanchez stands by to make his home debut against Middlesbrough this evening - with the promise that he will be a hit with Fulham fans.

The £3m signing from Rayo Vallecano was the worst kept secret of the summer as negotiations dragged on.

But Slavisa Jokanovic has cautioned the box-to-box midfielder will need time to settle in with little pre-season behind him.

The head coach added: “There is probably a chance for us to give him more minutes on Wednesday in the League Cup against Middlesbrough.

“He can play anywhere in the midfield though in the centre in a 4-3-3 structure is possibly his best position.

He is a box-to-box midfielder, but I tried him as like a second striker for a few minutes in the game against Leeds.

“He is a new player and needs to adapt himself to where he has arrived. He does not speak the language, it is a new country with a different culture and different football.

“He is a guy who has quality and is very good on the ball, but he has to understand what is the Championship because the competitions in every place are different, so everyone needs time to adapt themselves.

“We care about him and need to give him enough time to adjust. He did not play any pre-season game for us, so we need to be waiting a little bit with him.”
