Under fire Fulham manager Felix Magath reckoned he was still in his boss’s good books - but it may test the German’s resolve to hang on to his job at Nottingham Forest this evening.

Nearly 3,000 fans called for the manager’s head during the 3-0 defeat to Reading on Saturday, but Magath was optimistic Whites owner Shahid Khan would give him time to turn things around.

“Was he (Khan) still philosophical about the situation?” said Magath after the Royals romped to an easy victory. “He was the last time I spoke to him.

“Nottingham Forest difficult? They are all difficult in this league. There is not a lot of difference between facing Reading, Derby and other big sides.”

Matt Smith may have said sorry for his reckless red card on Saturday - but it still leaves Fulham trawling around for a second striker while Smith serves the first of a three-match suspension.

Best bet will see the return of Cauley Woodrow to partner Ross McCormack as Whites go in search of a first away point of the season in a top versus bottom clash.

There is a strong chance Bryan Ruiz will get his first game of the season after the Costa Rican failed to get a loan or permanent move in the transfer window.
