Slavisa Jokanovic has issued a rallying call for Fulham to improve their attitude after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Middlesbrough.

The Whites were downed by early strikes from Albert Adomah and Grant Leadbitter, which left them facing an uphill battle after just 20 minutes.

And Richard Stearman received his marching orders late on to cap a miserable day for the Whites, leaving manager Jokanovic frustrated with the display.

He said: “We didn’t show quality, personality and desire at the start, it was like everything is done.

“Nothing is done. If you want to change your situation, you have a clear mind, you want to push hard.

“This kind of situation is not especially new for us and we need to change definitely, fighting from first moment to the last to win the game.”

Fulham were undone within four minutes when Albert Adomah rose to head home Stewart Downing’s precise cross, though the Boro man was completely unmarked.

Bad day: Chris Baird

Chris Baird’s error compounded the mistake when he tripped David Nugent in the penalty area, before Leadbitter slid the ball into the net from the spot.

The Whites mustered a slight challenge, with substitute Moussa Dembele coming close twice - once with a fabulous overhead kick kept out by Dimitrios Konstantopoulos, another slashed over the bar from close range.

But Boro comfortably held out for the win, leaving Jokanovic to rue the early rustiness from his side.

The former Watford coach added: “We showed incompetence today. We prepared for the game for very long, and after the first attack we made a mistake, and they scored the goal.

“For the second goal we played with an injured player in the field and after that we made the penalty and they punished us very fast.

We were weak in the defensive line and we gave them many facilities for making the chances.

“If you are slicing and losing the simple challenges and making these kind of mistakes, then we make some some chances but we didn’t concentrate enough today.”
