Kit Symons admitted the 4-0 win over QPR was his best since he took over more than a year ago.

It was men versus boys from almost the second minute when Fulham took the lead through Moussa Dembele. But the Whites gaffer was barely surprised - even if he took the opportunity to remind fans of how quickly fortunes change.

He said: “Not so long ago it was ‘Symons out’ after the Huddersfield game. I stuck by my beliefs and it’s paid off.

“Yes, I think it was (the best performance).

“We were up for it, the bragging rights and all that, and we played well.

“We’ve got a good balanced squad here now, and we recruited well.”

One of those Symons inherited was Ross McCormack, who shone all night and scored twice.

Could be better, was the verdict of his hard-to-please manager.

Symons said: “He’s in a good vein of form, but he can play better. He still comes too deep. He’s got to stay up and trust players to get the ball to him, but players are getting to know each other.

“Scotland chances? Gordon (manager, Strachan) was here the other week so he knows what he’s capable of.”

The manager reckoned he had done his homework on Rangers, and played to his own team’s strengths.

“We prepared well; we studied them, strengths and weaknesses, you saw me at QPR the other week, so I’m not surprised by the score," the manager added.
