Kit Symons admits his honeymoon period as Fulham boss is over - and it’s now down to his skills as a coach to take the club forward.

The former academy head came to the rescue in September after a disastrous start from Felix Magath that briefly plunged Whites to the bottom of the Championship.

Like most new voices calling the shots, there has been a resurgence in form that inched Fulham to a comfortable mid-table berth. In fact, Symons' first win in charge was a 2-1 away win at today’s visitors Birmingham.

They too received a welcome jolt when Gary Rowett took the reins to replace former Whites hero Lee Clark.

Symons is under no illusion about the task ahead.

Itching to do well: Symons

He said: “I think there is definitely a honeymoon period - and we’ve had that. Now it’s about doing the right things on a consistent basis.

“And it’s what I’ve always tried to do, anyway. We’re going to be judged on what we do and I would expect any favours.

I’ve been around long enough to know that, and I want to be judged on how I’m doing and whether the club is progressing.

"I have big plans for Fulham.”
