Fulham have axed manager Felix Magath after a dismal start to the season.

The Cottagers have failed to win any of their opening seven games following relegation from the Premier League last season.

Wednesday night's defeat at Nottingham Forest was the final straw with the Whites rock-bottom of the table on just one point.

"This is an unfortunate but necessary change," said chairman Shahid Khan. "I am doing what I feel is right and needed for Fulham Football Club, for today as well as tomorrow.

"I thank our supporters for standing by us during these most difficult of times on the pitch, and promise better days ahead."

Kit Symons has been placed in temporary charge and will prepare the side for Saturday's home clash with Blackburn.
