Kit Symons refused to criticise referee Neil Swarbrick after Fulham were beaten 2-1 by Brighton at Craven Cottage.

Tomer Hemed's penalty, along with Sam Baldocks' opener, either side of Tom Cairney's fine strike, was enough to give the Seagulls the victory.

On the late penalty

I've seen it back a few times and it's difficult to call. The initial contact might have been just outside. It's hard to tell. I've got no arguments with the award of the penalty. I thought it was a rash challenge from Shaun Hutchinson. He knows it was. LuaLua's touch would have taken it out for a goal kick.

On the first-half performance

Rescue Act: Tom Cairney

In the first-half we were poor and they were the better team. We were lucky to go in at 1-1 and Matty hit the post in the dying embers of the first-half. We had to buck our ideas up and we looked like the only side who'd go on to win. We had loads of chances and it was two defensive mistakes that led to goals

On the injuries

Injury: Jack Grimmer (L)

Scott Parker is coming on well. He was in this morning. He was out on the grass most days now. He's coming along nicely. Jack Grimmer is going to have an exploratory operation on Monday and if they see any damage they'll do it there and then. He saw the same specialist as Luke Garbutt. Fernando is coming along well. He's very close to ball work and not far off fitness. Sean Kavanagh is back into training as is Adam Taggart and Larnell Cole.

On making new signings

Nearly signed: Tim Ream

We're very close to a couple. Until they're done I'm not going to name names. You can tempt fate and say you've got a player and they don't put pen to paper at the last minute. I think we're very close to one (believed to be Tim Ream) and close to another as well. We're looking to strengthen in areas I feel we need. If we can get a player who can make us better.

On Bettinelli's new deal

New Deal: Marcus Bettinelli

I'm really pleased as it's a good signing and important for us to do. We've got two good keepers signed up in Marcus in Andy Lonergan. I wanted two good keepers to push each other.
