QPR have been forced to change the opposition of their final pre-season friendly on August 2 due to failures from a tour promoter.

Rangers were originally due to face Chievo Verona but due to their promoter's failings, Chris Ramsey's side will now face Serie A side Atalanta with the match kicking off at 12.45pm.

The Italian side, who are managed by Edoardo Reja, finished 17th last season in Serie A, narrowly avoiding relegation so will give QPR a stern test ahead of their opener with Charlton.

Will QPR get promoted next season?

Director of football Les Ferdinand said: “We've encountered a few issues in pre-season with our tour promoter and the proposed fixture against Chievo has been cancelled as a result.

“The club will be pursuing the problems we’ve had with the promoter in due course, but in the meantime, we're delighted Atalanta have agreed to play us and it's a fixture we’re really looking forward to ahead of the big kick-off.”

Tickets for the original game remain valid.
